Join us!
Joining the Elks is easy.
If you know a current Elks member, contact them and have them take you by the lodge to experience the social quarters or to an event to experience the fun.
If you don’t know a member, stop by the lodge when it’s open and press the buzzer at the door so you can be admitted. Introduce yourself to the secretary, and officer, or the bar staff and let them know you’re interested in joining.
They will provide you with a membership application or you can download one right here. Not sure which Lodge to join? You can request membership here.
You’ll need to be at least 21, be U.S. citizen, and believe in God (the Elks is non-sectarian; belief in God is always a personal matter). You’ll also need a member to sponsor you, and there is a nominal application fee to cover costs. Members at the lodge are happy to meet with you, discuss membership and sponsor you.
That’s all there is to it! Your application will be reviewed, you’ll be invited to an interview, and then your name is submitted to the lodge for a vote. After a successful vote, you’ll be given an orientation (about 1 1/2 hours), then initiated at a Lodge meeting (initiations are generally the third Wednesday of the month; special arrangements can be made if necessary).
Annual Lodge Dues: $140 (our year begins April 1; if you join mid-year your dues will be pro-rated)

Reinstatement
Reinstate in your same lodge: Ask the Lodge Secretary for an Application for Reinstatement. Fill out the form. Pay the prescribed fees.
Your application will be forwarded to the Investigating Committee who will contact you for an interview. After the interview, the committee will make their recommendation to the members at a regular meeting.
After the Lodge vote, you will be notified by the Secretary. You will be required to pay a prorated portion of annual Lodge dues. Then you will be issued your membership card.
Reinstate in a new lodge: Should you wish to reinstate your membership in Elkdom with a lodge other than the one in which you were initiated, you must reside in the jurisdiction of that lodge. Before you reinstate, you need to obtain a Certificate of Release from your old lodge. Write a check payable to the old lodge in the amount of $20 and ask the Lodge Secretary to forward a Certificate of Release.
When you receive your Certificate of Release, present it to the Secretary of the Lodge you want to be a member of. Then you would go through the steps described earlier.
If a lodge has no proof of prior membership, the burden of proof falls on you. Proof of prior membership can be:
- An old membership card
- A canceled check
- An affidavit signed by two members attesting to prior membership (It must be notarized)
If you cannot provide proof of prior membership, it will be necessary to apply for membership as a new member.
